Celtic were left frustrated at Parkhead after being held to a 0-0 draw by Hibernian.
Brendan Rodgers’ side created plenty of chances but couldn’t find a breakthrough, with Hibs sitting deep and defending in numbers.
Kelechi Iheanacho missed two clear opportunities, while Johnny Kenny failed to convert a late header that could have sealed the points.
Controversy arose when BBC pundits Pat Bonner and Derek Ferguson highlighted a possible handball by Jordan Obita in the Hibs box that appeared to go unnoticed by VAR.
Bonner noted that Obita’s arm seemed raised as he blocked a Tony Ralston cross, while Ferguson agreed, suggesting it could have been a penalty. Despite Celtic’s appeals, VAR did not intervene.
That incident aside, the result came down to Celtic’s own shortcomings. Wasteful finishing and a lack of composure in front of goal, rather than VAR, cost them the win.
On another day, the same performance could easily have produced a 3-0 victory.
Rodgers will now be urging his players to be more clinical when SC Braga visit on Thursday night, with Europa League qualification hopes on the line.
