Pep Guardiola gave his verdict over Manchester United’s four new signings this summer in relation to the Premier League title race
Pep Guardiola thinks that the four new players Manchester United has brought in will give the team energy and help Erik ten Hag lead them to the top four in the Premier League this season.
This summer, United brought in Joshua Zirkzee, Leny Yoro, Matthijs de Ligt, and Noussair Mazraoui. They want to add a defender before the August 30 deadline for transfers. Yesterday, they beat Fulham 1-0, and Mazraoui played his first full game. Zirkzee scored the game-winning goal from the bench.
Along with De Ligt, who came on as a replacement, all of these new players helped get three points on the first day of the season. Yoro was introduced to the Old Trafford crowd before the game. He was using crutches because he had surgery to fix a metatarsal injury he got in preseason and the surgery went well.
The young defender, who was originally bought for €62 million from Lille, is set to return to action in October and will try to help United get back into the Champions League. That is Ten Hag’s basic goal, and Guardiola recently told reporters that he thinks United will be in the running for the top four and have “momentum” after their summer transfers.
Guardiola said, “Always at the start of the season, the first goal is to finish in the top four.” The Premier League is very competitive this year. “When people say ‘Oh, come on,’ I tell them ‘no.'” Newcastle won’t be in Europe, and they’ll only play one game a week. With one game a week this season, Newcastle will be like it was two years ago.
“We don’t need to talk about Arsenal.” There’s no need to talk about Liverpool. I know that the new players that United has signed will pick up where they left off.
“Tottenham, I think they spend money on young players, and the manager knows that.” While there are many teams, Chelsea stands out because of its large number of good players and strong boss.
“Six or seven teams will be there, and you’ll be gone if you drop a little.” Since the first season I came here, this is how I’ve felt. After we showed to ourselves that we could do it, we will try to do it again. It’s easy.
Last season, United came in eighth in the Premier League, which was their worst finish in the top league. They were also eight points behind the players in the Champions League spots. Bet365 says that City, Arsenal, Liverpool, and United are the most likely teams to finish in the top four. After that, Chelsea and Tottenham are seen as the next most likely teams.
Last season, Aston Villa made it to the Champions League, but many people think Unai Emery’s team will struggle, just like Newcastle did after playing in Europe’s top league.
