Pep Guardiola provides injury updates for Kyle Walker and Kevin De Bruyne in advance of the Manchester City match against Sparta Prague.
Kyle Walker and Kevin De Bruyne receive injury updates from Pep Guardiola prior to the match between Manchester City and Sparta Prague. Manchester City’s victory over Wolverhampton
Wanderers was postponed due to injuries sustained by the tandem. Kyle Walker and Kevin De Bruyne are not anticipated to return for the Champions League match against Sparta Prague on Wednesday, according to Pep Guardiola. Manchester City’s dramatic Premier League victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers on Sunday was missed by the duo, who are currently afflicted by injuries.Guardiola stated to Sky Sports following the 2-1 victory at Molineux, “I do not believe they will be prepared for midweek.” “We have a few days training but I don’t think so.”Walker represented England during the most recent international break; however, he was adjudged “not fully fit” to travel to Wolves after returning with a minor injury. The right-back’s sluggish start to the new campaign was exacerbated by his delayed return to pre-season following his performance with England at Euro 2024.
Walker has appeared in only four of City’s twelve games across all competitions and appears to have fallen behind Rico Lewis in the right-back position. When it comes to De Bruyne, his injury issues persist. In the 0-0 stalemate against Inter Milan on 18 September, the 33-year-old initially sustained the issue. Guardiola at the time suggested that it was only a minor niggle and that he could have been in line to return for the trip to Newcastle United on 28 September. However, De Bruyne will not be able to return to the team until at least four weeks have passed since his last appearance at St James’ Park. Guardiola has been unable to provide an explanation for his absence during recent press conferences, as he has been suffering from an injury that remains unspecified. However, it is widely acknowledged that the matter pertains to a pelvis injury that has disrupted the midfielder’s equilibrium. Rodri and Oscar Bobb are absent due to long-term injuries, while Walker and De Bruyne are two of four City players who will not be present on Wednesday night. However, there was some positive news at Molineux: Nathan Ake returned to the bench for the first time since August.
