Peter Grant reveals the name of the player who is 10x better than Callum McGregor in the Scottish premiership League

At some point, Celtic will have to prepare for life without Callum McGregor.

The midfielder is a club legend, seamlessly stepping into Scott Brown’s shoes as captain and winning nearly every major honour with the Hoops. But at 32, the end of his career is drawing closer, and Brendan Rodgers will already be thinking about who could eventually take his place.

It’s a demanding position that requires a very specific type of player, and Peter Grant believes there’s only one man in the squad capable of doing it: Paulo Bernardo.

Bernardo has endured a tough start to the campaign, struggling for minutes and currently ranked as Rodgers’ fifth-choice option in midfield. However, many supporters feel he deserves a real chance, and Grant agrees, suggesting he’s the only player suited to step into McGregor’s role long-term.

The Portuguese youngster was delayed at the start of the season due to his involvement at the U21 European Championship but has now had enough time to push for inclusion. With McGregor no longer playing every single match, there’s an ideal window for Bernardo to prove himself.

Celtic invested £3.5m in him, and his technical ability means he would attract attention from clubs across Europe if he felt underused. Rodgers cannot afford to let such talent slip away.
