Predicted Lineup, Team News, Injury report, player to miss the match: Brighton & Hove Albion vs. Manchester United (Premier League)

Manchester United had a disappointing Premier League season in 2023–24. On Sunday afternoon, they will play their last game in the top flight when they go to the Amex Stadium to play Brighton & Hove Albion.

The Seagulls are trying to stay out of the bottom part of the table, while the Red Devils are still in with a chance of making it to Europe.

As the last Premier League game of the season approaches, Man United are still in danger of finishing last in the league, which would be the worst result in 34 years, and Erik ten Hag’s job as manager is still up in the air.

The Red Devils have won 17, tied 6, and lost a club-record 14, out of 37 league games this season. They have only 57 points, 11 points less than Aston Villa in fourth place and a shocking 31 points less than Manchester City, who are in first place.

After failing to score in consecutive games against Crystal Palace and Arsenal, Man United secured a crucial 3-2 win at Old Trafford on Wednesday against Newcastle United. Kobbie Mainoo, Amad Diallo, and Rasmus Hojlund all scored to boost the Red Devils’ European hopes.

Ten Hag’s team is currently in eighth place, tied with Newcastle for seventh place in terms of points. To make it into next season’s Europa Conference League, they need to beat Newcastle’s score at Brentford on the last day. If not, they will have to beat Manchester City in the FA Cup final to play in Europe in 2024–25.

Man United may not win on Sunday, though, since they haven’t won any of their last five league games away from home, and they’ve lost four of their last six Premier League visits to Brighton (67%)—their worst away record against any team in the league.

Due to a knee injury, Brighton captain Lewis Dunk had to leave the game at halftime last week. He will be joining Solly March (knee), Kaoru Mitoma (back), Jack Hinshelwood (foot), Pervis Estupinan, Evan Ferguson (both ankle), James Milner, and Jan Paul van Hecke (both thigh) in the treatment room.

Joel Veltman missed Tuesday’s game because of an injury that wasn’t clear, and he might not be able to play on Sunday. As a result, Tariq Lamptey could stay at right back, and Igor Julio will join Adam Webster in central defense while Dunk is out, with Valentin Barco playing left back.

João Pedro will start in attack and will try to add to the 20 goals he already has for the team in all tournaments. Ansu Fati, who is on loan from Barcelona, and Adam Lallana, who is leaving the club this summer, will both hope to play in some way. Welbeck, who used to play for Manchester United, is also trying to start.

Luke Shaw, Harry Maguire (both muscles), Tyrell Malacia (knee), and Mason Mount (unspecified) will all miss this weekend’s game for Man United because they are hurt. Anthony Martial (groin), who seems to have already played his last game for the club since his contract ends in June, will also not be there.

Rafael Varane, who has stated that he will be leaving the club this summer, and Victor Lindelof have been out with muscle and hamstring injuries lately, but the two defenders have been back on the grass this week and could be ready to play on Sunday.

After taking a break in the middle of the week, Hojlund could return to the starting lineup. Bruno Fernandes will move from a false nine position to his preferred number 10 position. Lisandro Martinez and Marcus Rashford will both be hoping to play again after coming back from injuries to make cameo appearances as substitutes against Newcastle.

Brighton & Hove Albion’s possible starting lineup:
Verbruggen; Tariq Lamptey, Adam Webster, Igor, Barco; Billy Gilmour, Gross; Facundo Buonanotte, Pedro, Adingra; Danny Welbeck

Manchester United could use the following starting lineup:

Wan-Bissaka, Casemiro, Evans, Diogo Dalot; Sofyan Amrabat, Mainoo; Amad Diallo, Bruno Fernandes, Alejandro Garnacho; Rasmus Hojlund.
