Predicted Manchester United lineup against Leicester: Amad decision and Alejandro Garnacho benched
On Sunday, Ruud van Nistelrooy will oversee his farewell match as interim Manchester United manager. After Erik ten Hag’s dismissal, Van Nistelrooy was appointed on an interim basis. He has since oversaw victories over Leicester and PAOK, as well as a draw against Chelsea.
The Dutchman was asked about the pride he would feel in concluding his tenure with an undefeated record. He responded, “It was crucial to achieve what I refer to as stabilising the ship with results after I assumed authority.” We are suddenly three games into that, and it is passing by so rapidly. The final game will be of great significance.
Leicester was defeated by United in the Carabao Cup just last week. However, the two teams will meet again in the Premier League on Sunday, and United supporters will be hoping for a similar result. It will be intriguing to observe which players Van Nistelrooy chooses to ensure that he goes out on a high note, as he made three alterations to the starting lineup for the match against PAOK.
The only contentious issue in the full-back area is whether Diogo Dalot will start on the left or the right. Andre Onana is a certainty to start in between the sticks. Noussair Mazraoui is having an exceptional season and is capable of playing on either side; however, Dalot has encountered difficulties on the left. Jonny Evans and Victor Lindelof were afforded an opportunity to play against PAOK, as Lisandro Martinez and Matthijs de Ligt were rested.
However, the former will be summoned. Van Nistelrooy recently characterised his midfield options as “thin.” Manuel Ugarte, Casemiro, and Bruno Fernandes are expected to maintain their starting positions, as Kobbie Mainoo is making progress in his recuperation from injury but is still not prepared to participate. United’s options have been enhanced by the return of Christian Eriksen and Mason Mount from the substitute during the match against PAOK. On
Thursday, Rasmus Hojlund was relatively inactive in the Europa League, handling the ball only 10 times in the first half. However, it would be unexpected if Joshua Zirkzee were to replace him in the starting lineup against Leicester. Amad is anticipated to resume starting against PAOK, provided that he is granted permission to participate following an apparent injury to his foot. He delivered a man-of-the-match performance.
The youngster verified that he was unharmed during an interview following the game. However, Van Nistelrooy maintained that the wideman was being evaluated by the medical staff during his pre-match press conference. Amad and Hojlund are expected to assume the starting roles, which leaves Alejandro Garnacho and Marcus Rashford to contend for the final starting spot.
The latter is expected to secure the starting spot this weekend. Garnacho appears to be in need of a break, and Rashford was placed on the substitute during the match against PAOK. Predicted starting lineup for the match against Leicester: Onana, Mazraoui, De Ligt, Martinez, Dalot, Ugarte, Casemiro, Fernandes, Amad, Hojlund, Rashford.
