PSG experience an injury blow as their star player fails to attend training prior to the second leg of the Champions League against Arsenal.
PSG’s star player, Ousmane Dembele, is a significant question mark for the UEFA Champions League semi-final second leg against Arsenal next week after failing to attend team training on Dem belle
, who scored the sole goal in PSG’s 1-0 victory at the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday night, was forced to leave the game in the second half due to a suspected hamstring injury. The French champions’ slender advantage headed into the return leg at the Parc des Princes, which takes place just eight days after the first encounter, was secured by his early strike.
Fabrics, a journalist, has reported that Dembele did not participate in training prior to PSG’s Ligue 1 match against Strasbourg on Saturday. This absence has raised significant concerns regarding his availability for the match. Nevertheless, PSG has already secured the Ligue 1 title and may not be willing to take a chance on the 27-year-old winger.
PSG are cautiously optimistic that Dembele will recuperate in time for the critical return leg, despite his absence from training. The club’s confidence in his condition is evident in their decision not to conduct any medical tests at this time, according to the French outlet L’Équipe. The coaching staff will continue to monitor him in the coming days to evaluate any discomfort.
Dem belle been a critical player for PSG this season, contributing 33 goals across all competitions and registering 11 goal involvements in the Champions League alone. In 2025, his total of 30 direct goal contributions is unparalleled in Europe’s top five competitions. Dembele downplayed the injury after Tuesday’s match, confiding in L’Équipe,
“I felt a little something, but it’s okay.” While maintaining confidence in the team’s depth, his manager, Luis Enrique, reiterated a cautionary note. Enrique stated, “It is not a serious matter; it is a minor matter. However, it is probable that he will be a doubt for the second leg.”
“We will make every effort to reintegrate Ousmane; however, we remain a genuine team even if he is unable to participate.” Arsenal prepares to host Bournemouth in a critical Premier League match before traveling to Paris for the conclusion, while PSG plays Strasbourg on Saturday in a fixture of little consequence for the Parisians.
