Rangers Enter Negotiations for ‘Superstar’ as Rohl Plans Squad Revamp

Rangers are pressing ahead with a move to sign AEK Athens defender James Penrice on loan this January, according to the Daily Mail.

The Ibrox hierarchy are ready to support their new head coach in the transfer window as they look to revive their season, with a left-back identified as a key area for reinforcement.

Penrice joined Greek giants AEK Athens in a £2m move last summer following an outstanding campaign at Hearts, where he was named Player of the Year.

However, his switch to Greece has not gone as planned, and Rangers have now revived their interest after previously believing they were close to securing his signature.

Danny Rohl is eager to bring the 27-year-old back to Scotland on a temporary deal to strengthen his defensive options.

With Jayden Meghoma currently the only natural left-back at the club following Ridvan Yilmaz’s departure to Turkey, Rangers have been forced to deploy James Tavernier, Max Aarons and Derek Cornelius out of position this season.

As a result, adding a specialist left-back has become a top priority, with fresh talks taking place in recent days.
