Rangers boss Danny Rohl has revealed that up to six members of his squad are injury concerns ahead of Saturday’s Scottish Premiership meeting with Livingston.
Speaking to the press as Rangers prepare to resume domestic action, the German coach said the team is “moving in the right direction,” though he stressed the need to eliminate lingering bad habits that continue to surface during matches.
The injury situation is especially disappointing for Tottenham Hotspur loanee Mikey Moore. The 18-year-old had just scored his first goal for Rangers in the win over Dundee before the international break, a moment that seemed to kick-start his momentum.
However, that progress has now been cut short due to his latest setback. Moore had been praised as “brave” by former manager Martin when he joined the club, making the timing of the injury all the more unfortunate.
With a crucial Europa League clash against Braga coming next Thursday, Rohl will be hoping to receive favourable updates from the medical staff in the coming days. “We are heading in the right direction, but you still see old habits at certain moments, and those are things we must address,” he explained. “We played six games in three weeks, and the league results show that we’re progressing.
“You can’t afford to drop your standards — you have to stay aggressive and keep pushing because we want to win more games.
The reaction after the defeat in Bergen was essential for us. We had an honest meeting about the basics, and things are improving. There is still room to fine-tune every phase of our game, and that’s important. We’ve raised our levels and intensity, but we know there’s still more to achieve.”
With the January transfer window approaching, Rohl may also look to strengthen his squad. The manager has already been linked with interest in Kilmarnock midfielder David Watson, who could offer much-needed depth given the current injury situation.
Rangers vs Livingston – Team News
Rohl confirmed that as many as six players could miss the Livingston fixture after a difficult international break. Mikey Moore, John Souttar, Derek Cornelius and Bailey Rice are definite absentees following various injury problems.
Meanwhile, Youssef Chermiti and goalkeeper Liam Kelly remain doubtful as they fight to regain full fitness.
Sharing further details, Rohl said: “I’m very happy and proud of the players during the international break. But we’ve picked up some injuries — John Souttar, Mikey Moore and Derek Cornelius have all suffered muscle issues. Bailey Rice was injured in training, and Liam Kelly is still a question mark.”
