Rangers F.C. manager Danny Röhl fires back at Martin O’Neill’s brutal criticism remark ahead of Celtic match clash.

Rangers boss Danny Röhl has brushed off Martin O’Neill’s latest digs at his team, insisting his players don’t need outside criticism to fire them up ahead of the Celtic clash.

The veteran Hoops interim manager has been outspoken about Rangers this season while serving as a TalkSPORT pundit, often tearing into the Ibrox side’s performances. O’Neill recently dismissed their chances of challenging for the title and even claimed that the Rangers team he faced during his first spell at Celtic 25 years ago would “beat this Rangers side 12-0.”

Before stepping in as Celtic’s caretaker boss, the 73-year-old also branded the current Rangers squad “no threat whatsoever” — a comment that didn’t go unnoticed.

However, Röhl made it clear he won’t be pinning those words on the Hampden dressing-room wall ahead of Sunday’s Premier Sports Cup semi-final. The 36-year-old insists his side are already full of belief and don’t need O’Neill’s comments as extra motivation.

“I’m not the kind of coach who pays too much attention to other teams or what people say,” Röhl told the Daily Record. “We have a lot of work to do ourselves, and my focus is entirely on my players.

“What other coaches or pundits say isn’t important to me. I don’t think we need those kinds of comments for motivation. My players are already highly motivated — everyone wants to be part of a game like this and part of a winning Rangers team.”
