It took a while, but Rangers is finally starting the stadium work that needs to be done to get away derby ticket allocations back to an acceptable level.

Over the summer, Celtic spent money to improve Celtic Park so that away Rangers fans could have a better time at derby games. The city as a whole was supposed to do the same.

As part of a deal with the Ibrox team and the SPFL, about 5% of away fans will be able to enter the stadium when Celtic and Rangers play. This is a big increase from the years when very few people came to watch.

Rangers didn’t keep their part of the deal, and they couldn’t promise Celtic that the work would be done in time for the second derby of the season around the New Year.

Because of this, Celtic chose not to give any Rangers fans tickets to next week’s game at Celtic Park between the two teams. In a press meeting, Brendan Rodgers did a great job of making fun of them, which made it clear who was to blame.

Rangers start the work on the stadium that needs to be done for Celtic games.
As reported by The Scottish Sun, Rangers have finally applied for permission to put up nets at Ibrox. This is one of the safety steps needed to allow thousands of Celtic fans to return to their stadium for derbies.

So, the work should be done well before the third and fourth league games between the two teams in 2025, when fans are supposed to be given their agreed-upon spots.

The stress that Celtic put on Rangers pays off.

Celtic were right to refuse tickets last week, and it looks like the long-running public fight has finally sparked the Ibrox sign to act on the problem.

The SPFL and Rangers both denied that their late work was the reason the Bhoys had to cancel their tickets. Because of the pressure from the Scottish champions, things are now going forward.

Celtic has always made it clear that they want to see big derby allocations be returned. We hope that all of this small talk from the blue side of Glasgow can now be forgotten.
