Rangers have reportedly begun negotiations with Kazakhstan international winger Galymzhan Kenzhebek, according to new claims emerging from his home country.
The Ibrox club are said to have stepped ahead of Dundee United in the chase for the highly rated 22-year-old, who has been on the radar of several European sides. Earlier this month, United were credited with interest in the Yelimay Semey wide man, while clubs from Portugal, Russia, the Czech Republic and Greece have also been monitoring him.
Kenzhebek – capped ten times by Kazakhstan – is now believed to be attracting serious attention from Rangers, with new manager Danny Rohl eager to put his own stamp on the squad when the January transfer window opens.
United boss Jim Goodwin confirmed recently that the winger is indeed a player the Tannadice side are tracking. He said:
“We’re doing exactly what you’d expect as we prepare for the January window. I’m sure he’s on a lot of people’s radar. We always aim to improve the team by bringing in quality players. January is a tough window, but we’ll look to strengthen where we can.”
Kenzhebek earned his tenth cap earlier this week in Kazakhstan’s 2–0 loss to Austria and has three international goals to his name — a brace against Liechtenstein and another against Belarus
