Rangers legend Ally McCoist issues warning to Celtic despite last-gasp heroics

Ally McCoist has warned Celtic that relying on stoppage-time goals is not sustainable, despite the Hoops’ recent string of dramatic victories.

Celtic came from two goals down to beat Kilmarnock yesterday, with Julian Araujo scoring in the seventh minute of stoppage time.

This followed Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s 91st-minute winner against Livingston just four days earlier, and a 97th-minute equaliser from Junior Adamu in their Scottish Cup clash with Dundee.

All three matches ended in Celtic wins, moving them within three points of top spot, with a game in hand.

Speaking on talkSPORT with Jeff Stelling, McCoist compared Celtic’s late-game reliance to Manchester United’s famous “Fergie Time” but argued that it cannot continue, especially with key players such as Cameron Carter-Vickersamerican footballer”], “,”Alistair Johnston”,”canadian footballer”], and Arne Engels sidelined through injury.

“They’re relying on late goals,” McCoist said. “They’ve done it so far and are winning, which is the most important thing. Engels has scored some good goals, but the big miss is Carter-Vickers — he brings a calming influence in defence.

Johnston is out as well. Right now, the Celtic team doesn’t really scare you. The Old Firm games will look after themselves. If I were a Celtic supporter, I’d be delighted by the late goals — but also a bit concerned.”
