Rangers plot move for EFL talent compared to Jeremy Doku

Rangers F.C. remain locked in a tense Scottish Premiership title battle, but plans are already underway at Ibrox to bolster the squad ahead of next season.

Since replacing Russell Martin, Danny Rohl has transformed Rangers’ fortunes, guiding the Light Blues to within four points of leaders Hearts ahead of this weekend’s Old Firm showdown with Celtic F.C.. Securing the title would strengthen the club’s pull in the transfer market, yet recruitment work is progressing regardless of how the season ends.

One name on Rangers’ radar is highly rated 19-year-old Cameron Ashia of Huddersfield Town A.F.C.. The midfielder has made 12 appearances in all competitions this term, scoring three goals, and is out of contract this summer. With no extension currently agreed, Rangers are reportedly keen to explore a move that could see him arrive for minimal compensation.

Journalist Pete O’Rourke has suggested Ashia’s situation will attract interest from several clubs, given his age and contract status. Although he has not started as frequently as he might have hoped, his potential is widely recognised, and Rangers are understood to be conducting thorough background checks as part of their summer planning.

Ashia, who is related to Callum Hudson-Odoi, has drawn comparisons to Jérémy Doku due to his explosive pace and direct attacking style. His eye for goal and willingness to take defenders on could add another dynamic option to Rohl’s squad.

If Rangers can secure the signature of a promising 19-year-old with high upside at little cost, it would represent a shrewd piece of business as they look to build for the future.
