Rangers VIP sends clear message to Danny Röhl: Only one thing matters now

Danny Röhl has been told that “close isn’t good enough” as Rangers F.C. push for Premiership glory in the final stretch of the season.

Club legend Arthur Numan has praised the remarkable turnaround under the German coach but made it clear that only lifting the trophy will satisfy expectations at Ibrox.

Röhl inherited a struggling side after Russell Martin endured a nightmare 17-game spell in charge, winning just five matches before being dismissed in October. At that point, Rangers were down in eighth place, fresh from a frustrating 1-1 draw with Falkirk.

Since then, Röhl has reignited belief. Despite a recent 2-2 slip against Livingston, Rangers now sit second in the table, just three points behind leaders Heart of Midlothian F.C. with 10 games remaining. A huge Old Firm clash also looms, with Martin O’Neill’s Celtic F.C. heading to Ibrox this weekend.

But Numan insists momentum alone will not be remembered if Rangers fall short.

Speaking to the Sunday Post, the former defender highlighted the drama of a three-way title race and praised Derek McInnes for his work at Hearts. However, he stressed that Rangers are judged solely on silverware.

According to Numan, coming close counts for nothing at a club of Rangers’ stature — the only acceptable outcome is lifting the Premiership trophy in May.

He also pointed to the upcoming Scottish Cup tie as another crucial test, suggesting home advantage and the backing of the Ibrox support could prove decisive in both competitions.

For Röhl, the message from a Rangers great is crystal clear: the revival has been impressive — but only one thing matters now
