Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti reveals the name of the Madrid player who will miss their next UEFA Championships League match against Manchester City
In a statement, Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti disclosed that Rodrygo did not participate in the La Liga match versus Mallorca that took place on Saturday. The reason for Rodrygo’s absence was “a knock” that he got during training prior to the match.
Due to the fact that he did not show up for training on Friday, there was some uncertainty regarding his participation in the team for the La Liga match; however, the Brazilian international was chosen to participate in the league match.
However, Rodrygo was eventually not deployed as a replacement on Saturday, and Ancelotti stated after the game that the attacker had been nursing “a knock” throughout the contest.
Because of this, the fitness level of the 23-year-old player will need to be evaluated before it can be decided whether or not he will be able to start the second leg of the Champions League quarterfinal match against Manchester City on Tuesday.
After the Premier League champions played Mallorca to a 3-3 tie in the first leg of the European Cup final-eight match last week, Lucas Vazquez, Luka Modric, Brahim Diaz, and Joselu were given the opportunity to start against Mallorca following the match.
Before the journey to Manchester City, Rodrygo will need to undergo an evaluation.
On the other hand, there were openings in the starting eleven for talented players such as Antonio Rudiger, Ferland Mendy, Federico Valverde, and Jude Bellingham, all of whom are expected to make their debut on Tuesday.
In my opinion, we did a good job. Due to a certain physical component, I did not give myself any rest. They were all doing well. At the news conference that Ancelotti held after the match, he told the reporters that the only player who got a knock was Rodrygo.
There were other players who came off the bench, including Vinicius Junior, Eduardo Camavinga, Dani Carvajal, and Eder Militao. However, Toni Kroos was not utilized as a substitute since the Germany international was given a break.
It has been revealed by Ancelotti that he desired to provide Militao with a greater amount of playing time; nonetheless, the Brazilian international was only brought on for the final exchanges.
However, Militao has not played much since his recovery from an anterior cruciate ligament injury, which suggests that it will be tough for him to start at the Etihad Stadium. Aurelien Tchouameni is suspended for the match against Manchester City that will take place the following week.
It was my intention to play Militao for a longer period of time in the second half, but the contest was already in progress. “In order to improve the aerial game, we decided to bring him in at the very end,” stated Ancelotti.
After Real Madrid’s victory against Mallorca, the team moved 11 points ahead of Barcelona in the La Liga table. However, Barcelona’s victory over Cadiz later in the evening brought the distance between the two teams back down to eight points. Barcelona is the defending champion of La Liga.
The match lived up to our expectations. There is usually a great deal of dedication in Mallorca. We were quite slow and did not perform very well in the first half. Better in the second portion of the sentence. This is a really significant victory that gets us one step closer to winning the championship. We are currently on a winning streak, and now let’s be thinking about Wednesday. He stated that we have time to recover from this.
When it comes to this aspect, what we have done is that although we have not always played well, we have always competed. The team has been incredibly consistent and solid throughout this entire process.
