Because it was revealed earlier today that Jack McGinn, who used to be the chairman of Celtic, died peacefully at the age of 92.

Also, McGinn was president of the SFA at one point. Friends and family were said to be with him when he died at the St. Margaret of Scotland Hospice in Clydebank.

Have you heard of Jack McGinn?
It was in 1965 that Jack McGinn first became involved with Celtic when he suggested to the club’s board that they start their own newspaper.

He became the first editor of The Celtic View, which came out for the first time on August 11, 1965. As of now, it is still the oldest football club newspaper in the game.

Jack got a seat on the board when he was hired as Celtic’s marketing manager in 1981. In 1984, he was made vice-chairman, and in 1986, he was made chairman.

Until 1991, he was chairman of Celtic. During that time, the Bhoys won three big domestic trophies.

Jack was in charge when Celtic celebrated their 100th anniversary in 1988 and was the one who got Billy McNeill to come back as manager a second time.

“He dedicated himself fully to Celtic in many roles, even when things were tough for the club. He always did what was best for Celtic.”

“I know that his family, friends, and a lot of people at the club will miss him very much.” Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Jack served as a non-executive director at Celtic Park from 1991 to 1994. He then quit the board and went on to become head of the SFA.
