Reason why Arsenal F.C. defender Riccardo Calafiori was substituted during the France vs. Italy match in the UEFA Nations League group stage
The reason an Arsenal F.C. defender was taken off during the UEFA Nations League group stage match between France and Italy
France lost to Italy in a UEFA Nations League group stage match on Friday, but Italy played very well to win. William Saliba and Riccardo Calafiori, both from Arsenal, went up against each other in the game.
It cost £42 million to sign the Italian defender for Arsenal this summer. He was Mikel Arteta’s top choice for a defensive player. Even though Calafiori hasn’t started a game for his new team yet, he has shown signs of his undeniable skill.
He might not have been able to make his first start for a little longer because he hurt his ankle or leg tonight against France. Before he was taken off the field after 71 minutes, Calafiori was one of Italy’s best players.
Ousmane Dembele seemed to hit Calafiori on the back of the leg, which hurt a lot and made him fall. With Takehiro Tomiyasu also in the hospital, it was definitely not something Arsenal fans wanted to see.
We hope it’s not something dangerous for the Italian because he played really well against one of the best teams in the world.
Riccardo Calafiori completed 64 of the 67 passes he tried against France, which means he was 94% accurate. In defense, the Italian made four clearances, one interception, and one stop. He also completed all of his long balls.
It will not be long before Calafiori makes his first start for Arsenal if he keeps playing like he did tonight. It might happen even in the North London Derby next weekend, which is one of the biggest games of the season. We’ll see.
