Reason why Manchester City player Jack Grealish was removed from England squad for the upcoming Euro 2024
Reports say that UK football star Jack Grealish has been shockingly left out of England’s Euro 2024 team.
The 28-year-old came off the bench in the friendly win over Bosnia on Monday night and made a big impression. He has done well, but not well enough to get into Gareth Southgate’s final 26-man group for the tournament.
A story from The Athletic says Grealish will not be going. The City star was the biggest name to be cut from the original 33-person party. Tottenham’s James Maddison and Liverpool’s Curtis Jones have also been cut. Reports say that Manchester United’s Harry Maguire will not be able to play because he is injured.
Burnley goalie James Trafford and Liverpool rookie Jarrell Quansah are also not going to play. It looks like six of the seven players who won’t be playing are already known. Southgate has until 11 p.m. on Friday to send UEFA his final team. The 26-person list is set to be released on Saturday morning.
Grealish was very important as City won all three titles in 2023, but last season he was hurt a lot and had to play a supporting part. Only 10 times did he start in the Premier League, and he didn’t play when City lost the FA Cup final to Manchester United. In 40 games for club and country, he scored three goals.
