Reason why Manchester United FC midfielder Manuel Ugarte was not in the starting lineup for Manchester United vs. Crystal Palace
It was decided that Manuel Ugarte would not play in Man United’s game against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Saturday night.
Erik ten Hag, the manager of Manchester United, said he wants to keep things consistent in the middle of the field, which is why he put Manuel Ugarte on the bench for the game against Crystal Palace.
The Uruguayan international was signed from Paris Saint-Germain on the last day of the transfer window last month. He made his debut for United on Tuesday night in a 7-0 win over Barnsley in the Carabao Cup, just three days after coming off the bench in a 3-0 win at Southampton.
After starting his first game against a League One team, it was expected that he would start his first Premier League game tonight, working with Kobbie Mainoo and Bruno Fernandes in the engine room.
Instead, Ten Hag gave Christian Eriksen another start. Eriksen scored twice in the last few minutes against Barnsley, so he will play with Mainoo and Fernandes.
When asked if he wants to keep things consistent in the middle of the field, Ten Hag told MUTV, “That is one of the reasons, yes.” There is some kind of link.
“I didn’t mean to get in the way, but Manuel also needs some time to fit in and get used to English football.” It will move fast, but the main goal is to keep the connection in the middle of the field the same.
“Manuel will do great for us.” Our goal is to slowly but surely bring him in.
