Reason why Manchester United might not be able sign Joshua Zirkzee this summer transfer window

Switzerland and Scotland tied at EURO 2024, and Schar played the whole game.

Switzerland and Scotland tied 1-1 in Group A at EURO 2024 on Wednesday night. Fabian Schar, a star player for Newcastle United, went over 70 minutes with a broken nose.

After Saturday’s 3-1 win over Hungary, Schar played the whole game for the second game in a row, but his night did not go as well as his first game in the tournament.

On the 13th minute, the 32-year-old didn’t have the best start to his night when he deflected Scott McTominay’s shot toward the goal past the grateful arms of Swiss goalie Yann Sommer and into the back of the net.

In the 19th minute, Schar’s bad luck got even worse when he crashed into Celtic fullback Anthony Ralston while attempting to head the ball, breaking his nose.

The Newcastle back played the rest of the game, but it’s not clear yet if he will be able to play in Switzerland’s last group game against Germany. SRF, a Swiss news outlet, reported that Schar will have more tests before a decision is made about his fitness for Sunday’s game.

Kylian Mbappe’s terrible accident just 48 hours before Schar’s injury brought back memories. When he went to try to win a header, the France star hit Austrian defender Kevin Danso in the shoulder and hurt his nose.

Even though Mbappe didn’t have surgery right away, he was treated at the hospital. It’s still not clear if the broken nose will keep him out of France’s final group games against the Netherlands and Poland.

After the game, the Real Madrid forward made a joke on X by asking fans if they knew where he could get a mask to protect his face for France’s final games.

After two games, Schar’s Switzerland are in second place in Group A with four points. They look like they will easily make it to the next round of EURO 2024, no matter how they do against Germany in their last group match on Sunday.

It is said that Joshua Zirkzee, who is wanted by Manchester United, wants to stay in Italy.

Over the last few weeks, Juventus and AC Milan have both been linked with the Netherlands striker. However, Manchester United’s name has become more well known in recent days.

There have been many rumors lately that Milan doesn’t want to pay Kia Joorabchian, Zirkzee’s lawyer, her huge €15 million fee.

Man United is now interested in signing Zirkzee, but they want him to wait until July to decide what to do with his future because that’s when his €40 million release clause goes into effect.

Also, it was reported yesterday that United was planning to make an offer for the player and had already talked to the player’s agents about a possible summer move.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the player would rather stay in Serie A right now, which goes against recent claims that things were looking good for United.

The Italian news outlet says United is interested but “has not made official proposals” yet because they want to wait for Milan to do something before they do.

“Zirkzee has made it clear several times that he wants to stay in Italy, if possible,” the story says.

People say he is happy where he is and that he knows the Premier League is the “most natural destination” for strong players, but he doesn’t feel the need to rush a move.

The news source says he is only 23, so he might wait until he is 27 and still be young enough to make a move.

United has talked to the club, but the report says they “have not made any official proposals and do not appear ready to pay €40 million [£33.7m]”.

The newspaper Gazzetta says that these factors make it “likely” that Zirkzee will hold up a Milan shirt in July.

Bologna is still hoping to keep the player because they can play in the Champions League next season and could offer him a new contract that would raise his salary from €800,000 to €3 million and raise the release clause to €45–50 million, which would delay the transfer for one more year.

Milan’s insistence on holding on to the hope that he wants to stay in Italy could mean that they are losing control of a transfer situation they thought they had under control. United, who must know they will have to pay €40 million, jumped in at the right time to steal the player from Milan.
