Reason why New York Giants could Ownership Force Shedeur Sanders Pick Over Penn State Nittany Lions football, American football defensive end?
The New York Giants have a variety of requirements as they prepare for the 2025 NFL Draft. It is evident that this commences with the quarterback, but it also encompasses the running back, wide receiver, cornerback, and edge rusher. It has been widely anticipated that the Giants would prioritise Abdul Carter, a Penn State player, at the third overall pick.
Nevertheless, this may not be the case. John Mara, the owner of the Giants, could potentially dictate the team’s pursuit of a quarterback, according to NFL insider Jordan Schultz, who obtained this information through one of his sources. This is largely due to the fact that New York was unsuccessful in acquiring Josh Allen in 2018.
The source informed Schultz that “Mara loved Josh Allen back when they took Saquon [Barkley].” Allen was his successor to Eli Manning, and he refrained from advocating for it. That has remained with him. What if he simply states, “It is my team?” on Thursday evening? I desire the QB. That results in the draft being reversed. Nevertheless, Carter would be exceedingly difficult to overlook, irrespective of the likelihood of that occurring. Not only has he been exceedingly fruitful, but many regard him as a generational player at the position.
And with that in mind, Schultz is of the opinion that if New York ultimately decides not to pursue Sanders, it could result in a significant decline for the Colorado product, potentially reaching the 20s. In fact, he believes that Sanders could even be a question mark for the Pittsburgh Steelers, the team in most dire need of a quarterback in this draft. Schultz wrote,
“I am uncertain if there is an alternative logical destination for Sanders until Pittsburgh at 21, should the Giants select Carter at 3.” “However, would general manager Omar Khan be more circumspect, given that he selected Kenny Pickett at the age of 20 only three years ago?” That is a valid inquiry that is being posed in league circles as the draft approaches.
