Reason why Portsmouth vs Millwall was suspended for some minute explained

Millwall defender Zak Sturge was rushed to hospital after suffering a head injury during their clash with Portsmouth. The England Under-18 international took the full force of a cross from Pompey striker Terry Devlin, which struck him squarely in the face from just four yards out, causing his head to snap back violently.

Referee Michael Salisbury immediately stopped play in the 32nd minute to allow medical staff to attend to Sturge. After a four-minute delay, he was carefully stretchered off the pitch and transferred to an awaiting ambulance.

Portsmouth quickly sent their well-wishes to the Millwall defender, tweeting: “Sending our best wishes to the Lions’ defender.” Supporters of both teams also expressed concern online, with fans posting messages like, “Best wishes,” “I hope he’s well,” and “Very unlucky.”

At Fratton Park, both sets of fans showed their support in person, applauding the young left-back as he was taken off the field.
