Reason why Southampton player Cameron Archer goal was not ruled out against Arsenal even after obvious Raheem Sterling foul
The most recent Arsenal news is that Southampton’s opening goal was permitted at Emirates Stadium, despite the appearance that Raheem Sterling was impeded.
Raheem Sterling was at the center of Southampton’s controversial opening goal against Arsenal, which occurred on his first Premier League start.
Despite the fact that the Gunners had dominated the first half, garnering eight corners, they were unable to trouble Aaron Ramsdale on his return to Emirates Stadium. Mikel Arteta may have been feeling the effects of the numerous changes.
Jorginho, Raheem Sterling, and Gabriel Jesus were all included in the starting lineup for the match against the Saints due to the ongoing injuries that continue to affect Ben White and Jurrien Timber. Kai Havertz and Declan Rice were selected as the No. 8s, while Mikel Merino was placed on the bench after making his debut against Paris Saint-Germain earlier in the week.
Thomas Partey was deployed at right-back, much like he had been during the initial weeks of the previous campaign, as a consequence of the numerous modifications. Southampton’s unexpected goal was scored from his position.
Raheem Sterling was dispossessed in the center of the field, and the visitors immediately surged forward. Cameron Archer cut inside and curled an effort into the far corner. Numerous Arsenal players were of the opinion that Sterling had been fouled approximately 30 seconds prior to the goal; however, no penalty was issued.
Nevertheless, Mateus Fernandes decisively defeated Sterling before dispatching Archer. Fortunately for Arsenal, Kai Havertz promptly leveled the score, with Bukayo Saka capitalizing on a blunder before assisting Havertz in scoring his fifth goal of the season.
The game was then completely turned on its head when Gabriel Martinelli, who had served as a substitute, scored for Arsenal, with Saka once again serving as the provider. Although the Gunners will have been devastated to concede, it appears that they are on the verge of accumulating an additional three points.
