Celtic
Reason why the 25-year-old defender Alistair Johnston and Kyogo Furuhashi were absent from Celtic FC training
Celtic are currently in the process of preparing for their participation in an additional tournament this season, following a promising start to their Scottish Premiership campaign.
The Bhoys are currently at the summit of the table as they prepare for Scottish League Cup action at Celtic Park this weekend, following victories over Kilmarnock and Hibernian.
Brendan Rodgers’ team will once again face off against Hibs, and there is a renewed emphasis on performing well in this competition following their early exit last year.
There are no significant injury concerns in the lead-up to the match; however, the Celtic manager is monitoring a few players over the next 48 hours.
The absence of Alistair Johnston and Kyogo Furuhashi from Lennoxtown training on Friday piqued the curiosity of Celtic supporters. Rodgers addressed the matter during a media conference.
Brendan Rodgers regarding the status of Kyogo and Johnston
When questioned about the Celtic FC pair, he stated, “The general group is satisfactory; we are merely considering one or two matches between now and the weekend.” In any case, today was a day of diminished intensity.
“The players have been exceptionally proficient throughout the week; however, we have elected to reduce the workload of one or two players today.” We will conduct a final examination of them tomorrow.
“Alistair Johnston will be satisfactory for Sunday; Kyogo, we will simply need to evaluate him.”
Another Celtic debut is imminent for Adam Idah.
Kyogo sustained an injury to his shoulder at Easter Road on Sunday, which appeared to dislocate, as it has done on numerous occasions since his arrival at Celtic.
That is an ongoing issue that will not prevent him from participating for an extended period; however, the staff is being prudent.
Adam Idah is once again present to execute the role in the event that it is required. The smart money would be on the new big money to commence this one and allow his Japanese teammate to take a break.
