The current contract of a critical Detroit Lions veteran, who was named an All-Pro in 2024, is reportedly unsatisfactory. The contract has two years remaining.
A few notable veterans are currently absent from the Detroit Lions’ organized team activities.
Linebacker Alex Anzalone and center Frank Ragnow are the two athletes in question.
During a recent press conference, head coach Dan Campbell disclosed that both players have been in communication with the club; however, he declined to provide further information regarding their absences.
This is the reason why one of the players is not participating in OTAs, according to a recent report.
Ragnow is dissatisfied with his present contract, as reported by Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press.
Ragnow is approaching the third year of the four-year, $54 million contract extension that he signed in 2021.
The contract he inked was the most expensive center contract in the league at the time. Currently, he occupies the fourth position in terms of annual remuneration.
Additionally, he receives $4.5 million less annually than Creed Humphrey, who currently is in charge of the position.
Ragnow has earned a compensation increase as a result of his performance since the extension was implemented. He has been recognized as an All-Pro in each of the first two years of the contract.
Ragnow has been a key member of the Lions offensive line, which has emerged as one of the league’s most exceptional units in recent years. Despite his recent 29th birthday, he is expected to continue to be a significant contributor to the team for an extended period.
Although he has a few years remaining on his current contract, it would be unexpected if the Lions did not negotiate a resolution with him in order to maintain the satisfaction of one of their most critical players.
