Reports of disorder emerged following Coventry City’s match against Leicester City, with incidents involving supporters taking place near the CBS Arena and the Wheatsheaf Inn.
Fans were seen arguing and fighting in areas close to the stadium and nearby pubs after the final whistle. As part of a large-scale policing operation on Saturday, January 17, officers were deployed to several locations across the city, including The Wheatsheaf Inn, Broadgate, Arena Shopping Park, and Foleshill Road, due to the high-risk nature of the fixture.
Footage obtained by CoventryLive showed groups of supporters clashing and shouting abuse at one another after the game. However, West Midlands Police confirmed the situation was quickly brought under control, and no arrests were made.
On the pitch, Coventry City secured a dramatic 2-1 comeback victory, boosting their push for promotion to the Premier League. Leicester took an early lead through Jordan James, but the Sky Blues responded strongly in the second half.

Ellis Simms brought Coventry level shortly after the restart, benefitting from a fortunate deflection that sent the ball into the net. With five minutes remaining, Haji Wright completed the turnaround with a late winner.
Manager Frank Lampard praised his team’s response after a challenging first half, highlighting their energy and tactical changes. He said he was “really pleased” with how the players reacted and saw the match through.
