Reasons for Liverpool’s genuine rejection of Ruben Amorim prior to his appointment as Manchester United’s manager.
The genuine reason for Liverpool’s rejection of Ruben Amorim prior to his appointment as the manager of Manchester UnitedRuben Amorim, who
was initially considered by Liverpool but ultimately declined in favor of Arne Slot, has emerged as the leading candidate to succeed Erik ten Hag, who was recently terminated from his position at Manchester United. Following United’s unexpected 2-1 loss to West Ham, Ten Hag was terminated. The Old Trafford hierarchy was evidently unimpressed by the team’s subpar start to the season, which had been even worse than anticipated. The Red Devils are currently in 14th place domestically and have yet to secure a victory in the Europa League. United chose to extend ten Hag’s contract following their underdog victory against Manchester City in the FA Cup final, rather than replacing him in the summer. However, they have now decided to dismiss the Dutchman and must pay him a reported £13.5m in compensation. Liverpool considered several managers prior to employing Arne Slot, and it has been disclosed that one of them is considered the most likely candidate to assume the role of manager at Old Trafford. David Ornstein’s report in The Athletic indicates that Sporting Lisbon manager Amorim is believed to be in communication with United officials and is amenable to the possibility of relocating to the club.
Why was Liverpool truly rejected? Ruben Amorim The 39-year-old is considered one of the most promising youth managers in Europe. Despite the fact that his contract purportedly includes a €10 million release clause, the report indicates that United would be willing to fulfill it. After Jurgen Klopp’s departure was announced, Amorim was strongly associated with Liverpool. This association was further intensified when it was revealed that Xabi Alonso would remain at Bayer Leverkusen. There were numerous publications that perceived the competition for the head coach position as a straightforward one between himself and Slot, with Slot ultimately emerging victorious. Liverpool’s decision to employ Slot instead of Amorim was reportedly due to their reluctance to align with his preference for a back three. Subsequently, Amorim engaged in negotiations with West Ham to serve as David Moyes’ successor. Liverpool’s discussions with Amorim were never significantly advanced, as the club consistently preferred Slot throughout the process, according to reliable reporter Neil Jones in an interview with Caught Offside.
Slot’s appeal is that he has achieved success at two distinct organizations, both of which have performed exceedingly well under his leadership. He has been able to establish his authority on the team through a clearly defined style of play and remarkable communication skills, despite not having access to large sums of money or players on high salaries.
