News about Manchester City: Jack Grealish annoyed Pep Guardiola during the win over Ipswich Town in the Premier League. It was the winger’s first game of the season.

Pep Guardiola was angry with Jack Grealish before he came on as a replacement in the second half against Ipswich Town on Saturday. The winger wasn’t pushing to get on the field quickly because he was on the bench after falling behind in the lineup last weekend against Chelsea.

Gael Grealish had a good preseason, but he couldn’t play in the Community Shield because he was hurt. After getting better to take his place as a substitute, the 28-year-old wasn’t used at Stamford Bridge.

Savinho played well on the right last week, even though he started on the left, so Grealish had to make an effect from the bench when Ipswich came to the Etihad Stadium. Liverpool beat Kieran McKenna’s team 2-0 in their first game back in the Premier League, so they knew it would be tough going to Manchester.

Sammie Szmodics gave City an early scare after only seven minutes, but things quickly got back to normal with a quickfire goal. First, an Erling Haaland double gave them the lead. Then, Kevin De Bruyne scored a third. Haaland scored his third goal of the game just before the end of regulation time to seal the win for City.

In place of Savinho, Grealish got 20 minutes from the bench, and Guardiola also brought on Ilkay Gundogan for his first game back after a break. There was trouble when Grealish came on, though.

Guardiola told the former Aston Villa player he didn’t like him as he was getting ready to play by turning to face him and pointing toward the field, as if to tell him to hurry up if he wanted to come on. Grealish getting a yellow card for diving in extra time won’t have helped Guardiola’s initial anger either.

It’s been two years since Grealish started 23 league games, so he has a lot to show again. He only started 10 league games last season. The forward isn’t playing well or being fit enough, and his country doesn’t like him either.

With only one game left before the next international break, Grealish will want to win this game and make his boss happy. Next Saturday, City goes to West Ham.
