It has been a bustling day at Celtic Park, marked by the departure of one icon and the return of another beloved figure to the Scottish Premiership champions.

Kyogo Furuhashi has transferred from Celtic to the French club Rennes, while Jota has moved in the reverse direction. Kyogo has emerged as a remarkable talent since his transfer to the Glasgow champions from Vissel Kobe for €5.4 million in 2021, having netted 85 goals in 165 appearances.

Celtic has opted to capitalise on the opportunity to transfer the 30-year-old player for a substantial profit, as Rennes has agreed to pay €12 million following Kyogo’s expressed willingness to depart. The sorrow experienced by the Parkhead supporters due to the departure of one of their cherished players has been alleviated by the return of Jota.

The Portuguese winger transferred to Al-Ittihad in July 2023, resulting in Celtic ultimately realising €29.1 million from his sale. However, the club has only disbursed €10 million to the Ligue 1 team to facilitate his return to Parkhead.Celtic legend Jota expresses his elation at his return to Glasgow.

The 25-year-old has signed a five-and-a-half-year contract and has conveyed his pleasure at returning to Glasgow. He remarked, “It evokes a profound sense of nostalgia for me, as it was an extraordinary experience filled with memorable moments throughout my two seasons here. I am truly delighted to return.” I am genuinely enthusiastic and eagerly anticipate the commencement of this endeavour.

The most commendable aspect of Glasgow, aside from Celtic, is undoubtedly its inhabitants. I find myself in need of a locale imbued with character, where I can genuinely experience a sense of belonging. This is unequivocally what I have been seeking, and I believe there is no more suitable complement than Celtic.
