Referee and VAR officials revealed for the Wolves vs. Newcastle United Premier League match on Sunday
Newcastle United will face Wolves at Molineux, and the Premier League has disclosed the officials who will oversee the match.
Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United will attempt to safeguard their unbeaten start to the season against Wolves, who entered the international break in the relegation zone. The match is scheduled for Sunday. Gary O’Neil’s team achieved their first point of the season against Nottingham Forest in their previous match. They will be eager to maintain this momentum this weekend.
The Premier League has disclosed that Chris Kavanagh will serve as the referee for Wolves’ match against Newcastle United. Four Newcastle United Premier League matches were overseen by Kavanagh last season, and the Magpies were defeated on each occasion.
He was directly involved in the team’s home losses to Manchester City and Nottingham Forest, as well as their road losses to Tottenham Hotspur and Bournemouth. While Kavanagh has yet to officiate a Newcastle United match this season, he was present for the video assistant refereeing (VAR) during their match against Southampton on the season’s inaugural weekend.
Despite Newcastle’s 1-0 victory that day, Fabian Schar was controversially dismissed after only 30 minutes due to Craig Pawson’s assessment that he had headbutted Ben Brereton Diaz. Despite the fact that replays indicated that the Chilean international had made a significant amount of contact with Schar, Kavanagh did not believe there was a valid reason to reverse the initial judgment, and Schar was issued a red card.
After serving his three-game suspension, the former Swiss international is eligible to resume play on Sunday. This weekend, Simon Hooper will serve as Kavanagh’s fourth official, while John Brooks will be on VAR duty.
