The north star of college basketball for more than four decades was Coach K. He adjusted from a defensive-minded, motion-heavy era to the one-and-done world, coaching players such as Kyrie, Zion, and Tatum.
The issue, however, is that the collegiate basketball landscape of 2025 is unrecognizable from even five years ago. Schools are now selected by players for their immediate playing time, sponsorship, and NIL money. Rare is loyalty. The turnover of the roster is consistent. The traditional, disciplined approach of Coach K would it be compatible with the turbulent new world?
