Mikel Arteta plays a big role in the moments that Arsenal missed in their Champions League match against PSG.

Arsenal beat PSG, one of their toughest opponents, by a score of 2–0 in their first game of the new Champions League version. Mikel Arteta will be pleased with how well his team played against a very good team.

There was a great goal by Kai Havertz that went past Gianluigi Donnarumma and into the bottom left corner. This gave the Gunners the lead for the night. The second goal was scored by Bukayo Saka with a straight free kick that went in past everyone, even the Italian goalkeeper.

As it was a night in Europe with lots of lights, Arsenal was taking pictures, and Amazon Prime was taking the videos. Still, the pictures can’t always show everything, thank goodness for football. There were London fans in the stadium to show what fans at the Emirates Stadium missed.

Most nights in Europe, going to a game away always means something different from going to a game at home. More than 45 minutes before the game, the PSG fans’ area was already full. It seems that we love getting a pie and a pint more than our counterparts abroad.

“Allez” was the word that was spiraling around the ground, and the southeast area put on quite a show. As people walked toward the stadium, they heard French fans singing along Holloway Road. They were jumping, shouting, and screaming to the tune of the theme song.

Calafiori chaos
Along with his great goal against Manchester City and interesting defensive style, Riccardo Calafiori has given Arsenal fans a lot of surprises with his play. That was clear against PSG, and the way he was positioned was so odd to see.

He would play left back sometimes, central midfield other times, and then, in the middle of the first half, he was seen on the right attacking midfield. Michael Arteta was seen making a “calm” sign with his hand toward his bench, and Thomas Partey was seen pointing to the left when Calafiori was nearby. He may have been wondering where his colleague was going.

It was funny because he later switched to right back in the game after Jurrien Timber left. He did well, and his test runs in the first half may have helped.

The arteta yells at Saka

Even though his team was ahead by two goals, Mikel Arteta always has high standards for them. When someone gives you something: “You run!” You will hear about it from him if you don’t, and Bukayo Saka did.

Before the break, PSG countered down the left side after an Arsenal move was broken up. Achraf Hakimi was able to run through the left Paris lane. It’s possible that Saka should have been there, but he hadn’t done enough to please his boss. From 50 meters away in the stands, the Spanish manager could be heard hitting his captain hard.
