Rob Edwards speaks on squad fitness and double injury news before facing Birmingham City

Rob Edwards Offers Hopeful Double Injury Update Ahead of Birmingham City Clash

Middlesbrough return to action this weekend as they host Chris Davies’ in-form Birmingham City at the Riverside Stadium, and manager Rob Edwards has provided a positive update on two key players ahead of the match.

Defender Dael Fry and midfielder Alan Browne are both in contention to feature after missing Tuesday night’s dramatic 1-1 draw with Leicester City. While Browne was fit enough to make the bench as an unused substitute, Fry was absent after picking up a knock in last weekend’s clash with Watford.

Speaking ahead of the Blues’ visit, Edwards revealed that both players could yet be available for selection.

“Dael and Brownie were the two that I was talking about yesterday. We’ll see where they’re at for Saturday,” the Boro boss said. “Brownie did a bit of a fitness test this morning after our set-play session, and he was OK, but I didn’t want to risk him tonight if I didn’t have to.”

Middlesbrough will need all hands on deck, especially with Alfie Jones suspended following his red card against Leicester. Despite that setback, Boro snatched a dramatic point through Luke Ayling’s last-minute equaliser, ensuring they avoided back-to-back defeats ahead of another crucial Championship fixture.

With Fry and Browne both pushing to return, Edwards will be hoping for a timely boost as his side aim to build momentum and climb back up the table.
