Last month, the Blackburn Rovers Supporters Coalition called for a complete boycott of Saturday’s home fixture against Watford, citing ongoing frustration with how the club is being run.
In response, Rovers have encouraged supporters to continue attending matches, stressing that fan backing will be vital during a critical period of the season.
In a statement issued to BBC Radio Lancashire, the club acknowledged the boycott calls and the concerns behind them.
Rovers said they understand the strength of feeling among sections of the fanbase and recognise how deeply supporters care about the club’s future. However, the club believes that, at such an important stage of the campaign, the team needs full support as it looks to recover from a difficult run of results.
Rovers also highlighted that several key players are expected to return from injury in the coming weeks, expressing confidence that the squad can produce a stronger second half of the season — something the club says will depend heavily on continued backing from supporters.
The statement urged fans to remain united and get behind the team as they attempt to climb the table and deliver performances supporters can be proud of. Supporters attending the match were also reassured that all necessary measures will be in place to ensure a safe and welcoming environment at Ewood Park.
The club concluded by reaffirming its commitment to constructive dialogue with supporters, adding that the players and coaching staff would greatly value the presence and support of fans at Saturday’s game.
