SAD NEWS: Newcastle United player confirmed that he had surgery and suffered an injury
One Newcastle United midfielder revealed that he had surgery after getting hurt again.
Jamie Miley admitted that he got hurt while on loan at Newport County, even though he had only played once for the team since moving there from Newcastle United. Miley joined the League Two team on the second-to-last day of the summer transfer window. He played in the Bristol Street Motors Trophy loss to Cheltenham Town, which ended 2-1.
But Miley was taken off after 72 minutes of that game, and he didn’t play in County’s loss to Port Vale last weekend because of an injury. County tied the game at nine men at the end. Nelson Jardim, the manager of Newport, revealed that Miley had hurt himself and said that he would get a scan. “He felt some fatigue. As a precaution, we did a test, but I don’t know the results yet,” he said. A report will be made on him, but hopefully it’s nothing.
However, Miley had to have surgery because of the results of the scan. The 20-year-old posted on Instagram from a hospital bed with the message, “Surgery done, back on the mend.”
Early in the season, Miley played a lot with the Magpies’ first team. His time at Rodney Parade was his first experience with regular adult football. Lewis, Jamie’s brother, is also out with an injury right now. He hurt his foot earlier this summer.
Last year, the 18-year-old had a big year. He played 26 times in all competitions, including three times in the Champions League, as the Magpies’ fitness problems got worse.
