Scott Bain, who used to play goalie for Celtic, has now joined Falkirk.
Last week, Celtic let Bain go, so the former Dundee player could continue his career somewhere else.
In seven years, Bain only played 78 times for Celtic. Most of his time there was spent training, not on the field.
This morning, the former Celtic player was linked to Falkirk. Now, Bain has made his move official by signing a one-year deal with the new team in the Scottish Premiership.
The former Scotland international talks about why he left the bright lights of Celtic Park for the club in the northeast.
What caused Scott Bain to leave Celtic for Falkirk?
Bain is clearly excited to start the next part of his career as he seals the deal and talks about why he chose to keep playing at The Falkirk Stadium.
“It’s great to be here,” Bain told Falkirk FC. It’s a great set-up and the club is run very well. Part of the reason I wanted to come here was because it’s full of nice people.
As someone who has played in this league and knows how the team plays, I think I can help a little. The team and the management team make me really excited to work with them.
“The guys have done a great job for the last two years, and I hope I can help the club and the fans have another successful season.”
Why Falkirk are “thrilled” to have signed previous Celtic goalie Scott Bain
The player has spent most of the last seven years on the Celtic bench. Why would John McGlynn want to sign this player for Falkirk?
There hasn’t been any playing time for Bain at all in the last year, but Falkirk’s assistant manager Paul Smith says he’s “delighted” to sign the former Celtic player.
Smith said, “We’re thrilled that Scott has joined us here at Falkirk. He chose to come to the club over other offers from clubs both north and south of the border.”
“He is a goalkeeper who comes to us from Celtic after seven years there. During that time, he played in big European games, for Scotland’s national team, and at the highest level in Scotland, so he brings a lot of experience to the club.”
She said, “He’s great with the ball in his hands, and his style of play fits right in with how we play at Falkirk.” It will be great having him around Nicky, Jamie, and Owen. I’m sure they will all learn a lot from his many years of experience. We are excited to work with him again next season.
As Bain tries to start his career away from Celtic, he will definitely want to become Falkirk’s first choice.
