Scottish football coach Barry Ferguson reveals the greatest fear Rangers have for Celtic F.C. right now

Rangers are definitely scared after seeing how well Celtic played in the second half of the 2023–24 season.

The Bhoys only lost one of their last 25 games, cruising past the Ibrox team to win both the league and the cup.

Now, one of their past captains has said that he is worried that Celtic could keep winning a lot longer if his old team doesn’t show up this summer.

Because Celtic will definitely be in the expanded UEFA Champions League next season, Philippe Clement is under a lot of financial pressure to get his team through a tough qualifying process.

Barry Ferguson thinks that Rangers fans will be scared if they don’t.

Barry Ferguson was worried that Celtic would “disappear” after beating Rangers.

He told the Daily Record, “The Belgian needs all the help he can get to get off to a great start in August, when he has a lot of big games coming up.” And since Celtic easily made it into the reformed Champions League, no one will doubt how important that is.

“Having spent a lot of time with the club over the last year, I could tell that everyone was upset when they lost the title in the last few weeks of 2012–13. I was really determined to do something about it, though.

“Everyone knows that Celtic will win the biggest and best football tournament in Europe next season, but Rangers also have a chance to join them through the qualifiers.” There is a real worry that Celtic might disappear over the horizon now that they are about to make a lot of money.

There is a chance for Celtic to reach new heights and pass Rangers. That won’t happen by itself, though. We need to be smart about hiring people and using our resources. The boss needs to keep helping this group grow. There is a lot of work to do.

Of course, a lot can happen this summer too. But if the normal bravado from fans and pundits starts to come out, remember how they felt after a rough season.

The main thing for Celtic will be to get stronger. If they do that, it might not matter what else they’re doing in the city. It’s possible to be irrelevant.
