With Brendan Rodgers in charge, Celtic should have a lot of options for the summer transfer window.
With a guarantee of four home games and four away games, the Scottish Premiership winners will make a lot of money now that they are in the new winners League format.
Rodgers has a lot of options for how to improve his team. Meanwhile, getting rid of unnecessary players will probably free up money that can be used to bring in new players.
The Bhoys are already financially stable, but fans have been calling for a change in the normal amount of money Celtic is willing to pay to get good players.
Either way, exciting times are ahead for fans who aren’t showing any signs of giving up their never-ending desire for success on all fronts. Commentator Michael Stewart has now had his say on possible hiring deals at Parkhead.
What Michael Stewart thinks about Celtic’s summer transfer action
Stewart said on the Scottish Football Podcast that he thinks Celtic has “ludicrous” amounts of money that need to be used to help Rodgers improve his team.
The expert said that based on the club’s net spending, this is only going to get a lot bigger as the months go by at Parkhead.
First, he talked about Celtic’s support for Rodgers in the transfer window. “They’ve got to (support Rodgers in the market)”
It’s a rough guess, but they spent more than £20 million in the summer. “Where’s the impact on the team?” most people would ask, since there hasn’t been much. But, even with that £20 million—and that’s over the season, not just the summer—they brought in Kuhn for just under £3 million in January.
“They’ve spent a little more than £20 million this season, but that’s only half of what they made from selling players.” Their net spending is -20 million pounds, and that’s before you add in the money they’ll have made because they always make money.
“They have a lot of cash on hand, plus the £70 million or so that’s sitting in the bank. I know what transfer fees are.” The point is that this club has an absurdly large amount of money to spend, and everyone knows that the Champions League this season is awash with cash.
