Scottish Premiership preview: Livingston host Rangers – prediction, squad news and expected XIs

Two sides battling at opposite ends of the Scottish Premiership table lock horns on Sunday as Livingston welcome Rangers.

The hosts sit bottom with just 12 points from 27 games, while Rangers occupy second place on 55 points from the same number of matches.

Livingston made a promising start to the campaign with a win and a draw in their opening two fixtures, but they have since gone 25 league matches without victory. With only six pre-split games remaining, the Lions have managed one win, nine draws and 17 defeats, leaving them eight points behind 11th-placed Kilmarnock and 11 adrift of safety, with 10th-placed St Mirren holding a game in hand.

David Martindale departed earlier this month, handing the reins to Marvin Bartley, but the new boss has overseen two defeats and a draw so far. A daunting clash with title-chasing Rangers now awaits.

Rangers, meanwhile, endured a poor start to the season that cost Russell Martin his job. However, since Danny Rohl’s arrival, the Ibrox side have surged up the table, collecting 14 wins, four draws and just one defeat in 19 league outings. They are now three points behind leaders Hearts after last weekend’s emphatic 4-2 win, inspired by a Youssef Chermiti hat-trick.

Rangers have won their last seven meetings with Livingston and will aim to extend that run.

Livingston could stick with the side that drew 2-2 with Dundee, while Rangers remain without Bailey Rice, Connor Barron, Derek Cornelius and Max Aarons. Chermiti is expected to spearhead the attack again.

Prediction: Livingston 0-3 Rangers
