It was important for Celtic to beat Dundee earlier today so they could regain their three-point lead at the top of the Scottish Premiership.

After Rangers beat St. Mirren away this afternoon to tie the game, Brendan Rodgers made one change to his starting lineup from last weekend’s win over Aberdeen. On the left side, Hyunjun Yang was replaced by James Forrest.

We now know that the Scotland international made all the difference at Dens Park. He scored a beautiful goal on the half-hour mark to give the away team the lead on Tayside.

Celtic’s lead was doubled by Forrest in the 67th minute. He took advantage of a break in the defense to slam the ball low past Jon McCracken with his weaker foot.

Seven minutes later, Adam Idah deflected Antonio Portales’s shot past Joe Hart to cut the deficit in half. Despite a tense finish, the Bhoys secured a huge three points against Tony Docherty’s team.

Rodgers admitted after the game that his team can play better, but he couldn’t hide his happiness at the outcome.

“We’ve played better than today, but getting the three points was very important, and the players did a great job of that by the end,” he said.

This is what Greg Taylor wrote on Instagram as Celtic beat Dundee.
Today, Celtic almost kept their nerve. Since then, Greg Taylor has taken to Instagram to say what every Celtic fan will be thinking after Forrest’s game-winning performance.

Along with pictures from the win over Dundee, the Scotland international posted a simple caption that says “FORREST” and includes a kiss-blowing emoji. This shouldn’t come as a surprise, given his prominent role in today’s events.

Rodgers feels the same way. After the game, he praised the 32-year-old’s two goals in the City of Discovery, calling him “one of the fathers of the great success this club has had over the last decade.”
