Sergej Jakirovic delivered a classy reaction after Hull City’s game was briefly halted by a squirrel running onto the pitch

Hull City manager Sergej Jakirovic joked that his promotion-chasing side might need to offer a contract to the squirrel that twice stopped play during Saturday’s 3-2 defeat to Bristol City.

The animal caused chaos at the MKM Stadium, evading groundstaff, dodging goalkeeper Ivor Pandur, and even climbing the LED boards, much to the delight of the crowd.

Despite the frustration of seeing his team lose for the first time in six games, Jakirovic laughed: “He was very fast — maybe we should sign him.”
