Sheffield United on alert as Harrison Burrows bid tabled

Sheffield United full-back Harrison Burrows has emerged as a transfer target for Turkish side Trabzonspor, who have already seen an opening bid rejected by the Championship club.

The Blades are heading into a busy January window after an underwhelming first half of the 2025–26 season. While results have improved enough to lift them to 15th in the table, they remain nine points adrift of the play-off places, capping off a frustrating year following last season’s near-promotion miss and subsequent off-field turbulence.

Although strengthening the squad remains the priority for manager and supporters alike, Sheffield United are also having to fend off interest in some of their most valued players — Burrows among them.

Sheffield United and Trabzonspor in discussions over Burrows

According to Sky Sports News, Trabzonspor are pushing hard to sign the 23-year-old, with talks already underway between the two clubs. An initial offer believed to be worth £3.5 million has been turned down, but a second bid — potentially rising to £5 million — is expected.

Burrows joined Sheffield United from Peterborough United in the summer of 2024 for an undisclosed fee and quickly established himself as a regular starter. He featured 46 times in the league last season, including all three play-off matches, scoring five goals, and has appeared in 24 of the club’s 25 Championship fixtures this campaign, though only 13 of those have been starts.

Trabzonspor move could prove tempting

A move to Trabzonspor could be attractive for Burrows, with the Turkish side currently sitting third in the Super Lig behind Galatasaray and Fenerbahce. That represents a significant upturn from last season, when they finished seventh and missed out on European qualification.

Sheffield United do have cover at left-back in Sam McCallum, who started the recent 3–1 win over Leicester City with Burrows named among the substitutes. With several weeks remaining in the transfer window, the Blades would still have time to source a replacement if a suitable offer arrives.

Should Trabzonspor return with an improved bid, Sheffield United may be forced to consider a sale — particularly if the prospect of European football next season proves enough to turn Burrows’ head.
