Sky Sports journalist Lyall Thomas reveals the latest update on Southampton managerial search

Southampton sporting director Johannes Spors is reportedly turning his attention to Germany in the search for Will Still’s successor, according to Sky Sports journalist Lyall Thomas. The 43-year-old is leading the club’s managerial hunt and is said to be considering several candidates from his home country.

The Saints are in no rush to appoint a new boss after Still’s dismissal on Sunday, with interim coach Tonda Eckert currently overseeing first-team duties. Eckert, 32, is among those being considered for the permanent role.

Former managers Ralph Hasenhuttl and Russell Martin are not being considered, while Coventry City’s Frank Lampard and Stoke City’s Mark Robins are also admired by the club. Southampton sit 21st in the Championship after winning just two of their 13 matches under Still.
