Southampton is discussing the possibility of bringing back a former hero who was shunned by West Ham.

New reports in the media say that the Saints are considering bringing an ex-Saint to St. Mary’s. This is because the new boss at the Hammers has left him out in the cold.

James Ward-Prowse is someone who would not have liked Nuno Espirito Santo to be hired as the first team coach at West Ham United.

JWP’s time at West Ham has been up and down. After an average first season after joining from Southampton, he was deemed surplus to requirements at the London Stadium and sent on loan to Nottingham Forest. However, Nuno wasn’t impressed by his early games, and he quickly became a bit part player. In fact, in his last three months at the club, he only played in three Premier League games, all of which were from the bench and lasted a total of 18 minutes. This convinced Nuno that he wasn’t a good

Southampton is discussing the possibility of bringing back a former hero who was shunned by West Ham.

He made a name for himself back at West Ham and started the first five Premier League games of this season. But then Nuno came along, and he wasn’t even in the team for the trip to Everton.

He is really alone, and it looks like Southampton are ready to make moves to get him back to St. Mary’s, according to a story on givemesport.com by journalist Andrew Dillon.

“Nuno has confirmed to Ward-Prowse that he has no future at West Ham and it is unlikely that he will be allowed anywhere near the first-team squad for training,” Dillon says. This means that the player will have to train by himself for the next three months.

Ward-Prowse is sure to leave West Ham in January, but since he makes £115,000 a week and has 21 months left on his contract, it’s more likely to be a loan deal than a permanent move. He won’t be able to get a new deal from the Premier League because he will be 31 years old in a month and won’t have trained properly or played any kind of game by the time the January window starts.

West Ham is also fighting to stay in the Premier League and will not want to sell him to any team in the bottom half of the league.

The most recent rumour is that he will be loaned out in January. If it is to the Championship, Southampton is one of the few teams that can offer West Ham a good deal that will cover his pay.

With Ward-Prowse sitting around doing nothing for three months, this case has a long way to go. It will be interesting to see where Saints are in the table in January and whether they look for loans from Premier League clubs, like they did with David Brooks and Joe Rothwell last season.
