Sport journalist Fabrizio Romano reveals the name of the sporting director candidate that will replace Txiki Begiristain at Manchester City
It was reported on Wednesday that Txiki Begiristain is expected to depart Manchester City at the conclusion of the season, following a 13-year tenure at the club.
According to journalist David Ornstein, the individual who will succeed Txiki Begiristain is expected to assume the position in the early days of the following year.
Further, it was disclosed that the Spaniard has been instrumental in the selection of his successor at Manchester City.
Additionally, Ornstein disclosed that Begiristain will assist the individual in assuming his new role in his final months at the Etihad Stadium.
The man in question will undoubtedly face a challenging assignment.
The “favorite” at Manchester City to succeed Begiristain is disclosed by Romano.
Txiki Begiristain has been instrumental in transforming Manchester City into the preeminent force in English football over the past few years.
Before Begiristain’s appointment in 2012, City were not regarded as an elite club.
It would be reasonable to assert that the advent of the former Barcelona sporting director resulted in a shift in the club’s fortunes.
City supporters will be forever grateful to Begiristain for his impeccable devotion for more than a decade.
But the issue remains: which sporting director has been identified as the successor to Txiki Begiristain?
Sporting CP’s director of football, Hugo Viana, is the “favorite” candidate to succeed the Manchester City chief, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Initially, the 41-year-old commenced his professional journey at Beleneses.
The club is presently playing in the third tier of Portuguese football.
However, Viana was selected to serve as the director of football at Sporting CP, one of the most prominent organizations in Portugal, a mere year later.
Hugo Viana has signed numerous exceptional players during his tenure at the club, but Victor Gyokeres, Ousmane Diomande, and Morten Hjumland are among his most celebrated acquisitions.
Sporting has achieved two Liga Portugal titles during Viana’s tenure. This achievement is a testament to his astute acquisitions.
