Sports Pundit Kris Boyd offers insider perspective on the current situation at Ibrox after English television presenter Simon Thomas brutally criticises Rangers’ recent performances

Kris Boyd didn’t hold back during his Sky Sports News appearance on Saturday, launching a scathing critique of Rangers after Simon Thomas questioned what was happening behind the scenes at Ibrox.

Danny Rohl’s first match in charge ended in a humiliating 3-0 Europa League defeat to Brann on Thursday night. Rohl was appointed following a long and complicated search to replace Russell Martin — a process marked by rejections from Steven Gerrard and Kevin Muscat, and even Rohl briefly pulling out of talks.

Under their new American owners, Rangers’ start to the season has been disastrous, sparking growing fury among supporters.

Boyd also reacted to scenes of sporting director Kevin Thelwell and CEO Patrick Stewart being confronted by angry fans at a Norwegian airport after the loss.

When host Simon Thomas asked why the club’s recruitment and management process appeared so “shambolic,” Boyd admitted:
“I don’t know — and I don’t think anyone does, other than those behind the scenes. There’s a lot of unrest among fans toward Kevin Thelwell and Patrick Stewart right now.”
