St Mirren F.C. coach Stephen Robinson gave his full assessment of Celtic F.C performance on the final day of the Scottish Premiership title win
Celtic beat St. Mirren late last Saturday, just before the party for winning the Scottish Premiership title started on the last day of the season.
Even though the big events were Callum McGregor winning the league trophy and Joe Hart saying goodbye, the Bhoys had to work hard against a tough St Mirren team to secure all three points.
Mark O’Hara scored twice, and Celtic answered with goals from Matt O’Riley and Kyogo Furuhashi. The game was tied going into the second half.
In the end, Luis Palma forced the issue four minutes from time at the back post. It was a great way to start a day of celebration for fans all over the world who have been calmly waiting for their team to win this season.
However, Stephen Robinson, the manager of St. Mirren, shared some of his thoughts after the game and made some interesting points about what he saw.
Stephen Robinson’s thoughts on St. Mirren’s trip to Celtic
In a very tough game in the east end of Glasgow, St. Mirren came in second. According to Fotmob, Celtic had 2.46 expected goals to the guests’ 1.32. They also had more shots on goal and five “big chances” than the Buddies.
Robinson said that he was proud of how his team played against Brendan Rodgers’s team and praised them for coming close to beating the Hoops on their big day. On the other hand, he did say that they were up against “quality.”
According to The Daily Record, he said, “I thought the boys were great.” We’ve been in charge of the game for a while now. They have a good team. We beat them in big parts, and our shape on the way out was really great.
“No matter how well we played, we didn’t get a point in the end. But the fact that we can play against Celtic shows how far this football club has come.”
“We told them to try to keep their emotions and the mood under control for the first 15 minutes of both halves.” We were able to do that and get ahead.
“We were upset about the last goal and the first two as well.” The only bad thing about the day was that. We still have a lot to work on, but I’m really proud of this group of boys for the whole season.
Celtic had a great way to end the league season.
Even though last weekend’s performance wasn’t one of their best, Celtic pulled off the late miracles they needed to win the Scottish Premiership title many times before.
Even though there is no longer any pressure on the team, their standards have not changed. This is a good sign for Saturday’s Scottish Cup final against Rangers.
At the national stadium, Celtic only have one more push to make before everyone associated with the club can take a well-deserved summer break.
