STV reporter shares details on the infamous Wilfried Nancy Celtic dismissal speculation

Wilfried Nancy has faced a wave of negative headlines during his first month in charge at Celtic.

Pressure mounted quickly after the Frenchman lost his opening four matches, though that eased somewhat following the Hoops’ victory over Aberdeen. However, scrutiny intensified after the defeat at Dundee United, particularly when Peter Martin suggested Celtic were allegedly in discussions about ending Nancy’s reign prematurely.

Those claims were firmly dismissed by the club, and now STV journalist Ronnie Charters has shed light on what he knows about the situation, making Celtic’s stance on Nancy’s future crystal clear.

Celtic sack rumours labelled ‘completely false’

Nancy appears set to remain in the Celtic dugout for the foreseeable future, with the Aberdeen win helping calm much of the recent speculation. According to Charters, the rumours surrounding Nancy’s position were unfounded from the outset.

He explained that the club are fully behind the manager, accepting that he needs time and the opportunity to build a squad suited to his ideas. Celtic, he said, are already planning for the January window and even looking ahead to the summer as they acknowledge recruitment mistakes that need correcting.

Speaking on the STV Radio Football Show, Charters dismissed the reports outright, describing them as “completely false”. He added that Celtic categorically denied claims that talks were taking place over a compensation package or an early exit for the manager.

Charters stressed that if Nancy is to succeed at Celtic, he must be allowed to work without constant speculation and unnecessary distractions surrounding his future.

latest Celtic transfer talk on Jocelin Ta Bi

Attention is now turning toward the transfer market, with Celtic reportedly interested in Ivory Coast winger Jocelin Ta Bi. The 20-year-old, currently on loan at Hapoel Petah Tikva, has attracted attention despite carrying an injury.

His agent, Stav Hachmon, outlined the financial details involved, stating that the proposed fee stands at €2.8 million, with Tubruk due 20 per cent of any future sale after expenses. Petah Tikva are also seeking between €600,000 and €1 million in compensation should the player depart in January.

Hachmon added that Celtic are in discussions but are aiming to reduce the fee, instead offering a percentage of a future transfer. Talks are ongoing, with both Celtic and Gent monitoring the winger’s injury situation before progressing further.

With Celtic CEO Michael Nicholson promising backing in the transfer market, supporters will hope that reinforcements arrive quickly. If the title challenge is to stay on track, fresh additions may be required sooner rather than later.
