This summer, Liverpool is poised to make a significant move for former Celtic prodigy Jeremie Frimpong, who is currently at Bayer Leverkusen.
Frimpong’s departure from Celtic has sparked a plethora of transfer rumors regarding the Dutch international defender, who has since achieved great success at Leverkusen.
Frimpong, an ex-Celtic fullback, has emerged as one of Europe’s most sought-after properties since transitioning to the Bundesliga, where he has secured a league title, the German Cup, and the German Supercup.
Florian Plettenburg of Sky Sports has provided an update that will bring Celtic to the verge of banking millions of pounds this summer, days after Fabrizio Romano’s update on Frimpong’s transfer to Liverpool.
Liverpool is in “advanced talks” with Celtic hero Jeremie Frimpong.
Frimpong appears to be making rapid progress, as it appears that a return to England is now imminent.
Plettenberg utilized social media to provide an update on the former Celtic player, stating, “It is my understanding that Liverpool is committed to pursuing Jeremie Frimpong.” Advanced discussions have already transpired.
“He is currently one of the top options for Liverpool to potentially replace Trent Alexander-Arnold, as a result of his availability and the detailed analysis that has been conducted.”
“Frimpong intends to relocate this summer.” The 24-year-old right wing-back has a release clause valued at approximately €35–40 million that allows him to depart Leverkusen during the summer.
Frimpong would be making a remarkable transition to the English Premier League champions, as his career had stagnated at Manchester City prior to Celtic’s acquisition of him in 2019.
If Frimpong relocates to Liverpool, Celtic’s sell-on clause for him is estimated to be approximately 30%. The team has performed exceptionally well in this location.
Liverpool is expected to pay £36 million for the former Bundesliga champion, as reported by the Daily Record.
According to the report, the Hoops are poised to receive a substantial £6.7m if Frimpong decides to transfer to Anfield in the upcoming weeks, as they are in possession of a 30% clause.
